Soprano Olga Shyp is a native of Odessa, Ukraine. After graduating summa cum laude with master's degree in music (opera and solo singing) from State Conservatory in 2001, she had performed the lead roles in operatic productions of the State Music & Drama Theater. Ms. Shyp is actively pursuing her singing career after relocating to the United States in 2003. A current New York resident, Olga Shyp has performed with New York Choral Society, Synod Cathedral Choir and Buglisi/Foreman Dance Company. In summer of 2004, she participated in New Jersey Opera Theater's Summer Vocal Institute performing the roles of La Chauve-Souris and Les Chiffres in the productions of Ravel's L'enfant et les Sortileges and featuring in a series of musical theater, art songs and opera excerpts concerts. In April of 2005, Olga sang the role of Despina in Cantiamo Opera's production of "Cosi fan tutti".

She has sung Adina in Donizetti's "L'elesir d'amore", Silberklang in Mozart's  "Der Schauspieldirektor", Lucie in Menotti's "The Telephone", Tonina in Salieri's "Primo la musica, poi le parole" and Oksana in Gulak-Artemovsky's "Zaporozhets beyond the Danube". As a part of Olga's involvement in musical theater productions, she has received stage movement and intensive dancing (European Standard, Latino) training.

Ms. Shyp has understudied and/or covered the roles of Despina in Mozart's "Cosi fan tutti", Norina in Donizetti's "Don Pasquale", Violetta in Verdi's "Traviata" and Gilda in "Rigoletto", Tatyana in Tchaikovsky's "Evgeny Onegin", title role in Rimsky-Korsakov's "Snow Maiden" and Marfa in Rimsky-Korsakov's "The Bride of Tsar".

Olga Shyp has also committed herself to oratorio singing. She has featured as a soprano soloist with Odessa Philharmonic Society, German Cultural Society Chorus "The Bayern House" and Odessa State Conservatory Chorus. Ms. Shyp has performed in concert tours throughout Germany, Italy and Ukraine and appeared in a number of recitals and ensemble concerts in her home region. Her concert repertoire includes Handel's "Messiah", Brahms' "Requiem", J.S. Bach's "Magnificat", "Johannes Passion" and "Matteus Passion", Haydn's "Lord Nelson Mass" ant other works. Olga is one of the soprano soloists for New York Choral Society Summer Sings. Her latest engagement was Mozart's "Requiem" in August 2005.

Her future plans include appearances with regional opera companies in a series of opera concerts and a solo recital.
